See and support the future of jazz as two young jazz bands come together for some swinging rhythms and killer solos. The Empire State Youth Jazz and Repertory Jazz Ensembles include some of region’s top performers and jazz’s next generation of musicians. You won’t believe many of these kids don’t even have a driver’s license when you hear their sophisticated sounds.

The ensembles, which are part of Empire State Youth Orchestras, will perform in a range of styles, performing jazz standards including Hoagy Carmichael’s The Nearness of You and Along Came Betty by Benny Golson, swing selections including Victor Goines’ Second Line, and funk classic Old School by Jeff Jarvis.

The Youth Jazz Ensemble is directed by Paul Evoskevich and the Youth Repertory Orchestra by Lee Russo.

ESYO, a not-for-profit organization, is dedicated to challenging and inspiring children to achieve musical excellence through intensive instruction and high level performance opportunities.
