Discover When and Where To Find Fall's Colors

Did you know Lake George features some of the best views of autumn in the Adirondacks? The leaves begin to turn in the Adirondack Park in late September, and before you know it, the surrounding mountains are full of fall color.

When to Go Leaf Peeping

The first two weeks of October is typically when foliage reaches its peak in the Lake George region. This does vary - Adirondack photographer Carl Heilman II has reported seeing striking color through the third week of October in some years! Higher elevations, such as in the Adirondack High Peaks, reach peak foliage sooner than Lake George.

Keep an eye on the foliage report from ILoveNY and check it again before you head out to experience everything Lake George in the fall.

Where to Find Fall Colors

Below, we highlight top spots in the Lake George region and beyond where you can see prime foliage. We get into scenic drives, fall foliage hikes, and unique ways to enjoy the colors - like from a hot air balloon!
